What pairs best with pig in a blanket? We think a dry chenin blanc or Champagne, but we've never sat down and actually tried pairing it. What about marshmallow fluff? Buttery chardonnay? And how about Spam? And the apex of all chemically created tastes, Cool Ranch Doritos? Well, we aim to figure all this out. Wanna join us? We know you do. It's nostalgic/guilty pleasure food that isn't discussed outloud amongst the foodies and wine dorks at dinner parties, but we all get a fix every now and then. The final menu and wine pairings will be announced in the next newsletter, but get your spot now! We're guessing spots are going to go pretty fast. And like the logo above? It comes fromCoWineCo friend and monkey painter extraordinaire (which was also his nickname in highschool), Alan Griswold. Want to be the coolest kid on your block with questionable drinking habits? For a limited time, you can go to our new apparel store and grab a White Trash Wine Tasting shirt, hat, or baby unitard. Maybe we'll even add adult unitards down the road. You never know. Temento: The Freshmaker
Tement is considered one of the top three premiere white wine producers in all of Austria. They're located in a region called Styria which is the same latitude as the Sancerre area of the Loire Valley which is definitely a good thing. This pretty blend is primarily Welschriesling (no relationship to the grape Riesling…surprise, surprise…wine is confusing) with a small portion of Sauvignon Blanc. We get an aromatic, citrusy nose with tastes of apricot and pear and a great acidity level which helps the wine to end crisp, dry and leave you thirsty for more. Try with fruit salad (if you actually pair wine with your fruit salad) or light shellfish dishes. Oh, and those little sparkly bits in the bottom? Tartaric acid crystals -- completely harmless and not a sign of anything really. Some call them "wine diamonds." We call them "wino stars". Ok, no we don't. But it sounds better. Tement Temento - $14.99/btl.

The Poll Booth Interesting results from our last poll yet again. The scenario was this: your hosts/hostesses are great cooks who appreciate unique wines so you bring something wonderful. But when you present the wine, they thank you and put it away in their wine collection, never to be seen or tasted by you again. What do you do, if anything? 39% of you said 'don't do anything, this puppy is gone', 27% of you were the assertive types and would ask if it could be open for dinner, 19% of you thought the passive aggressive route was appropriate and you would bring up at dinner how FANTASTIC your wine would be with the food, and finally, 15% of you would actually go all Mission Impossible and steal it back on your way out. We also received a handful of emails from rather frustrated people in both camps. About half had a story of how this happened to them with a really good bottle, and the other half thought it was rude and presumptuous to expect the host to open your wine. Have an opinion on this? Post a comment to our blog, here. Alright, new poll...and remember this is anonymous...there is no way for us to know who is voting. When a friend / waiter / wine store employee is describing a wine to you in detail, you know, crispy-this, meaty-that, 'a dusting of meyer lemon on the finish with a hint of black spray paint', etc. etc. You get the point. What do you really think? Do you think it's all B.S.? Do you think it is the power of suggestion when you then taste some of these things being described? Or do you believe that most of the time, a wine expert really has honed their tasting skills to separate out the tastes and identify them? Sound off on our homepage poll here --> www.cowineco.com
