This annual down-home wine event, brilliantly conceived by CoWineCo owners Jennifer and John Nugent, offers all of the education of a wine tasting with none of the snobbery. How could you turn your nose up when biting into a pork rind? I went last year and had a hee-haw good time getting edumacated on how 7-Eleven fare could pair with some fine, affordable wines.

On a monthly basis, someone walks into our store, sees all the bags and shipping boxes ready to go and exclaims, "wow, you have a wine club?"  Yes, in fact we have three.  Let me explain in a haiku:

three wine clubs exist

your belly will exclaim this

"thanks a lot, brother"

Choose from the $50/month level - "Seeing Red" and "Me & CoWineCo - BFF" - or the $80/month level with "The Yummiest Trio" and give a CoWineCo wine club membership as a baby shower gift, a wedding present, a birthday present, or gift yourself because you deserve hand-picked wine shipped to your door.

REGULAR WINE TASTING SCHEDULE

Friday Wine Tasting: Sgt. Slaughter Meets Grenache Blanc

Friday, August 27th

5:30 - 8:30 pm

$15/person for 5 wines + artisanal cheeses from Auntie Em's

First and foremost, tonight is about this crazy Grenache Blanc from Tangent winery.  One of the winery representatives was in last week and after tasting their lineup we said, "you know what we need?  we need a great domestic grenache blanc that doesn't cost $25, but it doesn't seem to exist."  The rep and our distributor whispered a minute and then told us, "well, we do make this grenache blanc but there's so little of it we don't bring it out for accounts to taste."  Apparently, bitch and ye shall receive... this is one stunner of a white.

But if wine doesn't float your boat and you only come to our tastings because of the dorky little blurb that accompanies them, then come to celebrate Sgt. Slaughter's birthday today.  If I need to tell you who he is, then it's really not worth discussing.  And it might be a little embarrassing...for YOU.  Because if you didn't grow up watching WWF as a kid, you were probably smart and had better things to do then watch beefy men in drag fake-beat up on each other.

Welcome to the 10th installment of "WINE PARAPHERNALIA THAT MAKES US

UNCOMFORTABLE AND/OR SCARED" (or W.P.T.M.U.U.A.O.S. for short)

This is Ginger the Wine Fairy.  The craftswoman claims that this "sparkling fairy will fill your heart with enchanting delight and happiness."   Which is surprising because it filled my heart with "hey creepy mini-Bette Midler, please get your ass out of my wine glass."

During the mid-1980s, Sgt. Slaughter released a full length LP, Sgt. Slaughter and Camouflage Rocks America. It featured a number of original songs, including "The Cobra Clutch," as well as a cover of Neil Diamond's "America".
