Seemingly out of the fog, this wine we’ve never heard of before finds its way into our bar, tastes remarkable and asks for very little money in return – our favorite kind of wine. Renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson sites this as one of the 3 up and coming Argentine producers to keep an eye on in the coming years. They only began making wine under their own name in 1999, and if this is any indication of what other gems they have to offer, keep a lookout for more from the Cassones very, very soon. REGULAR WINE TASTING SCHEDULE
Friday Wine Tasting: From Their Bar to Ours Friday, March 19th 5:30 - 8:30 pm $15/person for 5 wines + artisanal cheeses from Auntie Em's The highlight of tonight's tasting has to be this new liter bottle of Zweigelt from Martinshof. This is actually made by a heuriger in Vienna called Zum Martin Sepp. A heuriger is a special type of bar/restaurant that can only serve its own wine that has been recently bottled. What you get is a fresh, fruity, light red that would pair equally well with a sausage-laden breakfast as it would a light lunch. But beware, it comes capped, not corked, so be prepared to drink now ($14.99/ltr btl). The other brand new arrival for this tasting is the Riondo Prosecco, a $12.99 dynamo of a bubbly from the Veneto hills which received 90pts from the Wine Advocate. The bubbles are fine, soft, and subtle -- in fact it's corked, not capped, held down only with a carefully tied piece of string to avoid any unintentional bubbly explosion. The other 3 wines are nothing to sniff at, but if you're a Cowineco regular, you already know and love these labels as they're some of the best selling wines in the store. wines Riondo Prosecco Spago Nero, Italy Heron Chardonnay 2007, California Martinshof Zum Martin Sepp Zweigelt 2008, Austria Pere Anselme Reserve De L'Aube Syrah/Merlot 2008, France Fin Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, California

Welcome to the 6th installment of "WINE PARAPHERNALIA THAT MAKES US UNCOMFORTABLE AND/OR SCARED" (or W.P.T.M.U.U.A.O.S. for short)
Ok, first of all, stop staring at me with your NAMBLA-like gaze. You look like an amateur magician with a penchant for actually sawing women in half. And turning bunnies into ascots. This glass is VERY risky, and VERY avant-garde, and VERY stupid. For the wine snob that has everything, a glass you can't drink wine out of without killing yourself. Cool. Art.
