Can I bring in food from outside your establishment? YES! Please bring food. We have no kitchen and encourage you to dine-in especially if you're patronizing local eateries. You can also order Brownstone Pizza two doors over and they'll bring it to your table in CoWineCo.
Can I bring my child with me to a wine tasting? Sadly, our fine state still has some very prudish and atiquated laws regarding alcohol and because we are not licensed as a restaurant but rather as a bar, no one under 21 is allowed to enter and remain on the premises. You can however shop with your children for bottles to go.
Do you rent out your establishment for private parties? Yes, at least a couple times a month the back bar is rented out for private parties. The back room is available for rent on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Want to host a wine tasting in your home or business? We do that, too. Please call (323-478-1985) or email for details.
Do you like horses? why YES! We LOVE horses. Thanks for asking. Seriously, that's very kind of you.
Do you have any parking at all? Like the Yetti, El Chupacabra, and the venomous Flying Snail of Andorra, our parking lot is something people believe exists, but can never find. If you go down either of our cross streets (Maywood or Caspar), turn into the first alley you see, then go halfway down the alleyway and you will see 10 parking spots for CoWineCo, Brownstone Pizza and that Karate place that shakes our walls like a 7.0 earthquake.

Eastern Block Are you bummed because you're shunned by your neighbors and never on the guest list for your local block party? Do taller, more muscular neighbors kick block party sand in your face? Well, this block party is open to everyone and you're #1 on the list. Yes, #1. Yes, you. Starting this Saturday the 13th and continuing every 2nd Saturday of the month, you will see the lantern below in the windows of participating businesses:
Each business will offer deals and discounts only available that night including 10% off all wines and bar service at your local neighborhood CoWineCo. Please CLICK HERE for a list of participating businesses and special deals being offered. The party goes from 10am-9pm (CoWineCo still opens at 11am) and coincides with the NELA Artwalk AND the Make Art Not Trash opening reception which christens the brand new garbage cans you see throughout Eagle Rock, each designed and decorated by a different local artist.
So, to sum up the many events happening this Saturday:
Eagle Rock Block Party - 10am-9pm (cowineco open at 11am) NELA Artwalk - 7pm-10pm Make Art Not Trash: Opening Reception @ Center for the Arts Eagle Rock: 4-6pm

La Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose 2008, France - $21.99/btl With our annual rose tasting over, we had to feature our favorite from the lineup. Yes, the mimes beat out the cowboys and vonTrapps again and stole the show. It's kind of unfair to go up against juice like this because there's really nothing like this rose. The weight is such that those of you that find traditional Provencal roses too light and California roses too rich, you can tuck right into this baby happy that you've found your match. If you're a Robert Parker fan, here's his take: "Another summer ...bone-dry rose....2008 Domaine de la Bastide Blanche...70% mourvedre,22% cinsault,8% grenache....fuller-bodied style with surprising power, depth and even structure...behaves more like a mid-weight dry red ....most Bandol roses are rare and expensive(very popular in Europe and quantities are limited)...this is right up there with my standard Bandol reference rose...Domaine Tempier...but Tempier sells for $35...this costs $20....ordered a case myself....." The Poll Booth - Trends In Your Tummy
Well, in the last poll we asked you what you think is missing on most wine store shelves and not surprisingly, "good pinot noir under $15" won overwhelmingly. We agree, that's a hard one to find, but if you haven't tried our $13.99 '07 Queen of Hearts Pinot Noir, you're missing out. Anyway, on to the next poll. Now that we're inching towards 5 years as a business, we're curious...how has your palate changed? Did you start as a newbie and now feel you're the wine guy/gal in your group of friends? Though you once proclaimed "I don't drink white", are you now a non-red guzzler? Sound off in our new poll por favor by CLICKING HERE.

See You Soon, John and Jen
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. ~ Frank Zappa |
