Pink, Pink, Pink, Pink

Rose continues to dominate at our store when the weather is toasty.  From the salmon pink stuff in Provence to the ruby colored, spicy roses from Santa Barbara, it's all pretty damn good.  What do you prefer?

Piedrasassi Syrah 2005  (93pts-Tanzer, 92pts-Parker)

Holus Bolus Syrah 2007 (91-93 pts-Parker)

"A barrel sample of the (Holus Bolus) 2007 Syrah (100% Syrah) exhibited a beautiful ruby/purple hue followed by sweet creme de cassis aromas interwoven with notions of ground pepper, melted licorice, forest floor, and spring flowers. With vibrant acidity, admirable purity, full-bodied power, and luscious layers of fruit, it should drink well for 7-8 years." ~ Robert Parker

Wine Tasting: All Hail Jimmy Pants

(wines by the glass also available from 4:00 to 11pm)

$15/person

5 wines and gourmet cheeses from Auntie Em's Marketplace

Please RSVP to: info@cowineco.com or (323) 478-1985

A quick recap of our Friday setup -- taste 5 wines that are new to our store and we think should be on your kitchen tables that also won't break the bank...eat cheese from Auntie Em's Marketplace....meet new people or old friends....sip again....repeat.

So...what to celebrate on this fine April Friday...I say we cheers the invention of "Jimmy Pants".  Jimmy Pants were invented by Jim Masenthall in 1939 to aid in his panting (as opposed to 'de-panting') after a big meal and a few too many beers.  We now know Jimmy Pants by another, much more boring and very long name..."pants with elastic waist bands".  Well done, Jimmy. Well done.

I think everyone should wear Jimmy Pants on Friday as well.  Do it. Seriously.....do it.

King George

It is with a mixture of sadness and happiness that we say goodbye to our good friend and soon-to-be former employee George Stubbs this week.  George is an Art Center grad and just landed a long-term job with high-end auction house Bonhams and Butterfields working with rare art and vintage wine.  George will be dearly missed and we wish him all the best.  His last night of work is tonight so come on by and say farewell.  But not to worry, George has recorded some British-isms in his lovely accent and we'll be playing them on a loop in the store for weeks on end.
