WTWT 2008 Every once in awhile, something happens that we know immediately will go down in history as unforgettable for generations to come....man walking on the moon...the invention of the wheel...the Dyson vacuum cleaner....and now, CoWineCo's 2nd Annual White Trash Wine Tasting 2008. Seriously, the volumes and volumes of text that will be dedicated to this event in the coming years is more than we can wrap our brains around right now. We will be pairing 4 rather fine wines with only the best in white trash cuisine so that we bring out the natural complexities of saturated fat and yellow #5. And now for the menu:
Course #1: Boules de Fromage paired with Denis Pere & Fils Brut, Burgundy, France
Course #2: Charcuterie de 7-Eleven paired with Paul Hobbs Felino Vina Cobos Malbec 2007, Mendoza, Argentina
Course #3: Frito Tarte paired with Owen Roe Abbot's Table Red 2007, Washington
Course #4: Gâteau au Chocolat en Plastique paired with Barros 10 Year Tawny Porto, Portugal
Last year we sold out waaaay too quickly and we felt bad that a lot of people didn't get to partake in such remarkable cuisine, so RSVP early!
2nd Annual White Trash Wine Tasting 2008 Saturday, October 25th 4 - 6 pm $20/person RSVP to: info@cowineco.com or (323) 478-1985

Penny Farthing For Your Thoughts
Cabernet Franc is a finicky grape. Usually, when it's affordable and from California, it smells like green peppers and the winemaker has left in a bunch of sugar to try to disguise the bad elements. But man oh man, wait 'till you taste this puppy ($10.99/btl). It's without a doubt drinking like a $30 Cab Franc with notes of cedar, plum and cinnamon and a medium weight that makes it ideal for this transition into Fall. CLICK HERE to continue...

The Poll Booth - Joe "The Plumber" In the last poll, we asked what new varietals people have been trying this year. Malbec kicked some butt with over half the vote which isn't a surprise. We can't keep the stuff on the shelves. So, we haven't changed up the poll in awhile so we thought we'd take one more stab at politics before the election. Since Obama is ahead in the polls, we'll phrase our poll this way: If Obama wins on November 4th, I am going to....tip a glass to hope? Move to Canada? Crank call Joe the Plumber?
