We offer off-site wine catering now! Call for details (323) 478-1985. Also, apparently there is this trend where companies are buying Thanksgiving holiday cards and gifts instead of Christmas and Hanukkah gifts in order to stand out in the crowd. If this is you, or you're the type that I completely can't relate with that tends to get all your gift buying done really, really, really early, we will be offering a small selection of gift baskets in addition to wine gift packaging this season. Now that we've completely scared the Hell out of you by talking about the holidays already......on with the newsletter.
MartyFest 2: Old Habits Die Hard We're in our second year of business now and there have been many questions about events and tastings we held last year and when we're going to get to them again. Some remember the beef jerky wine pairings, others the bubbly Sundays, but there is one infamous tasting that captured the imaginations of the free world.....MartyFest. Yes, it is still one of the most popular tastings we've ever done. Why? Is it because Marty is a celebrity? No. Is it because Marty can bend cutlery with his mind? No. We don't know why. But come ask him for yourself. Learn about the man BEHIND the man, behind the little boy inside of the man, behind the man. Please join us this Friday as CoWineCo's honorary employee and damn fine cook, Marty Yu, smokes some pulled pork BBQ with gusto, patriotism and a long-standing love of stuff with alcohol in it. We'll be pairing a variety of beverages that don't just go with BBQ, but actually want to sit down, talk and hold hands with BBQ. Seriously. Literally. (details below)

Shopping for Farmers Well, we've officially packed Summer up and sent it back to College for a year where we hope it learns to calm down a bit and be a little cooler next time around. The school buses are out en masse, your co-worker is annoyingly tan from her recent vacation, and you're asking Fall - what's in it for me? Well, just as restaurants are changing their seasonal menus to fit the present season, we're out hunting for some new, Fall wines. We're looking for wines that taste great with Fall/Winter vegetables like squash and roasted carrots and garlic and leeks, and grilled meats that taste just that much better as the Sun turns down its dimmer a bit. Keep a lookout on our shelves and in this newsletter for new syrahs, pinots, red Rhone blends, gewurztraminers and pinot gris as we ramp up our selection for the new season. This change in season made us think of a couple of local Farmer's Markets that we frequent quite often and hope you will too when planning your meals over the next few months. Eagle Rock Farmer's Market (right beside our store!) Fridays, 5 to 9 p.m. Merton and Caspar Avenues (just South of Colorado) (323) 225-5466 **And yes, we'd be happy to hold your arugula while you attend our Friday wine tasting

South Pasadena Farmer's Market Thursdays, 4 to 8 p.m. (818) 786-6612 Meridian Avenue at Mission (Gold Line Station)
See You Soon, John and Jen
"I wanted the audience to feel the heat from the fire, the fear, because people don't like fire, poked, poked in their noses, you know when you get a cinder from a barbeque right on the end of your nose and you kind of make that face, you know, that's not a good thing, and I wanted them to have the sense memory of that. So during the show I had someone burn newspapers and send it through the vents in the theatre. And well, they freaked out, and 'course the fire Marshall came over and they shut us down for a couple of days." ~ Corky St. Clair, Waiting for Guffman |
