Friday Wine Tasting: Economy Sized Friday, February 26th 5:30 - 8:30 pm $15/person for 5 wines + artisanal cheeses from Auntie Em's One of the very, very, very few bright spots in this crappy economy is the fact that people are unloading wine on the cheap. Today's Paso cab is kinda ridiculous. It's not going to change your life, it's not going to make you pontificate the meaning of complexity in wine, but it tastes damn good for $12, so the fact that it's $7 means you will be happy. But the tough part is, you're tasting it against some real stellar selections...this white Burgundy is the best deal in French chard in years. The Bila Haut from superstar Rhone producer Chapoutier is all anise and black pepper and so easy to drink you'll be drunk 2 minutes before you taste it. I don't know what that last sentence meant but I know it's the truth. And the Westwood Red Four was one of the nicest surprises in tasting we've had in weeks (2nd only to the Westood Sonoma Pinot...holy crap). And if all that wine blather isn't good enough reason to taste with us tonight....try this on for size...it's Johnny Cash's birthday. He deserves your toast. wines Cantos Rodados Verdejo, Rueda, Spain Cave de Lugny Les Charmes Chardonnay, Maconnais, France Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes du Roussillon Village, France Westwood Red Four 2008, Sonoma Valley, California Sevona Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Paso Robles, California ($6.99/btl -- this will fly out of here)
