86 years ago today, the Hollywood Bowl opened to the public.  In 1927, Frank Lloyd Wright tried to make a pyramid shaped shell work with leftover lumber from the movie Robin Hood, but althought this was the best acoustics the bowl had ever had, it was considered to avante-garde and was demolished at the end of the season.  Three domes later, we have one of the many great reasons to live in LA. 

Yay bowl.  Here's to another 86 years!
